A Trussville native will serve on the Tuscaloosa City Council beginning in November.
Matt Calderone, a 2009 Hewitt-Trussville High School graduate, will assume the District 4 seat because he is running unopposed. A resolution approved by the Tuscaloosa City Council on Tuesday night declared seven candidates, including Calderone and Mayor Walt Maddox, duly elected.
“It’s a dream come true,” Calderone said in a telephone interview with The Trussville Tribune on Wednesday morning.
Calderone, 22, may be the youngest to serve on the Tuscaloosa City Council. Lee Garrison was also 22 when he was elected.
Calderone is married to Claire Calderone. They have an eight-month-old daughter, Abigail.
