GARDENDALE — When Pinson Valley head football coach Matt Glover first represented the Indians at media days in 2009, some reporters left the room, following some of the upper tier programs.
On Tuesday, the room was full, not enough time for all the questions flying his way.
“We want to make a name for ourselves as a program,” Glover said.

Pinson Valley has reached the Class 5A state playoffs three years in a row, reaching the second round the last two years. In both second-round games, Pinson Valley lost 22-21 to the No. 1 team in Class 5A.
The Indians defeated Pleasant Grove 27-17 in the first round last season.
“Pinson Valley was such an athletic team last year,” said Pleasant Grove head coach Jim Elgin.
Elgin said just competing with the Indians was a “key” for Pleasant Grove coming into this season.
“It was close all the way through into the middle of the fourth quarter,” Elgin said. “I think just the taste of it, the thought that we got that chance to compete with a high-class football team, it gives our kids that advantage going into this year.”
