Auburn University Athletics Director Jay Jacobs will be the featured speaker at next Thursday’s Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
The luncheon will be at the Trussville Civic Center beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Reservations are $17 each and are due by Tuesday, Aug. 13 at noon.
Jacobs has been Auburn’s athletics director since December 2004.
Under Jacobs’ leadership, Auburn has moved forward with numerous facility projects designed to benefit Auburn student-athletes and improve the gameday experience for fans.
The most significant facilities project during Jacobs’ tenure has been the $86 million Auburn Arena and practice facility that opened for the 2010-11 academic year. The 243,792-square-foot facility has an approximate capacity of 9,000. It includes more than 29,000 square feet of student-athlete space, a two-court practice facility, coaches’ offices, the Auburn University Athletics Ticket Office, the AU Team Shop, the relocated Jonathan B. Lovelace Hall of Honor, food courts and other amenities, such as tailgate suites facing Jordan-Hare Stadium and rental space available for private functions.
The Auburn football team won the BCS National Championship in 2010, two years after Jacobs hired then-head coach Gene Chizik.
