The Trussville City Board of Education is expected to approve its budget for the 2013-2014 school year Monday.
The board meeting is at 6 p.m. at the school system’s central office on North Chalkville Road. A public work session, in which the board of education members are expected to discuss the budget, will be at 4:30 p.m.
There will be a second public budget hearing at the meeting Monday. Trussville City Schools Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations Jim Kirkland talked about the possible budget at a board meeting earlier this month, saying that decreasing deficit spending is the goal.
“That’s not an easy process to start,” Kirkland said.
Kirkland said the budget would likely be “very lean” as the school system moves toward a balanced budget.
