Senior Blake Bailey will start at quarterback for Hewitt-Trussville on Friday at No. 2 Clay-Chalkville, Huskies head football coach Hal Riddle said today.
Bailey will start while sophomore Zach Thomas, who Riddle called “an awfully good athlete,” will likely see the field, too.
Bailey started the varsity game for Hewitt-Trussville in its jamboree Friday against Pinson Valley. He completed 4-of-10 passes for 21 yards and scored on a 1-yard touchdown run.

Thomas completed his only passing attempt for 16 yards and rushed three times for seven yards. In the junior varsity game, Thomas completed 2-of-3 passes for 17 yards. He rushed for touchdowns of 36 and 82 yards.
Last season at Clay-Chalkville, Bailey completed 6-of-13 passes for 38 yards and three touchdowns to zero interceptions in a backup role.
Riddle said both quarterbacks are “talented, quality” signal callers.
The Hewitt-Trussville at Clay-Chalkville game Friday kicks off at 7 p.m. at Cougar Stadium.
