The Hewitt-Trussville varsity girls’ cross country team placed third in last week’s Montevallo Early Bird Classic.
Mountain Brook won the team 5K, followed by Hoover, in the race that included 10 teams from Class 4A, Class 5A and Class 6A.
Out of 136 runners, 22 Hewitt-Trussville girls finished in the top 100. Veronica Lyle, who has an offer to run at Alabama, finished fourth individually. Alexandria Pidcock placed sixth, Lauren Smith 13th, Isabella Calma 25th, Marlee Mason 27th, Ashlyn Wiggins 37th, Olivia Pidcock 40th, Taylor Elliott 44th, Emily McMahon 45th, Hailey Harrison 46th, Audrey Bland 50th, Olivia Bland 51st, Madison Snow 52nd, Claire Payne 70th, Brooke Atkinson 72nd, Addie Hanchey 74th, Olivia Calma 81st, McKenzi King 82nd, Hannah Leonard 85th, Danielle Renda 89th, Jessica Mitchell 96th and Claudia Seales 99th.
Other Hewitt-Trussville girls finishing the 5K were Erica Larsen, Maggie McBride, Christen Deason, Madison Shariett, Abbie Hopper, Shelbe Sutherland, Ashleigh Hicks, Ashley Ellison and Elizabeth Manscell.
The Hewitt-Trussville Middle School girls’ team finished third out of eight teams in the 3K, finishing behind Oak Mountain and Liberty Park.
The Hewitt-Trussville varsity boys finished in seventh place out of 11 teams in the 5K, finishing behind Hoover, Mountain Brook, Smiths Station, Opelika, Loveless Academic Magnet and Thompson.
Out of 224 runners, Josh Dowds finished 41st, Austin Norwood 45th, Josh Busby 48th, Benjamin Knox 52nd, Campbell Holley 62nd, Hunter Thomason 70th, Tyler Jackson 83rd, Rohan Sugden 91st, Jason Hambey 95th, William Chandler 96th, Nathaniel Campbell 100th and Eliz Czermak 102nd.
