Clay-Chalkville held at No. 2 in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 6A rankings.
The Cougars received two first-place votes. Hoover was No. 1 and had 27 first-place votes.
The rest of the Class 6A rankings include McGill-Toolen, Auburn, Opelika, Tuscaloosa County, Florence, Carver-Montgomery, Mountain Brook and Vestavia Hills.
Oxford, who Clay-Chalkville plays at home Friday, earned two votes for top 10 consideration. Hewitt-Trussville faces No. 10 Vestavia Hills on Friday.
Pinson Valley earned two votes for top 10 consideration in the Class 5A poll, a result of defeating Class 4A No. 2 Oneonta last week. Oneonta fell to No. 5 in the Class 4A rankings, but did receive one first-place vote.
