According to NBC’s John Paepcke in his 13 Investigates segment, youth evangelist Matt Pitt flashed a badge as early as 2011 during a traffic stop in Florida.

Matt Pitt was arrested last month in Jefferson County.

Pitt was ticketed for driving 86 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone, according to a traffic citation discovered by Paepcke. He pleaded guilty and paid the fines, according to the report.
But it was a notation on the ticket by the Florida officer that caught the investigative reporter’s eye. Paepcke reported that the officer had stated that Pitt, “Showed an honorary badge, laying in his lap, in an attempt to get out of a ticket.”

Pitt was arrested in August by Jefferson County for allegedly showing and honorary badge to a Grayson Valley resident. He pleaded guilty to similar charges in Shelby County a year ago this month.
