Oak Mountain is better than its 4-5 record may show.
The Eagles, despite losing their first two games a combined 66-21, are 4-3 since that time. Oak Mountain has wins over Stanhope Elmore, Pell City, Chelsea and Thompson. The three losses are a 42-41 game vs. Pelham, a 21-17 defeat to one-loss Spain Park and a 28-21 loss at Prattville. Those are the top three teams in Class 6A, Region 4.
Clay-Chalkville (8-1, 6-1 Class 6A, Region 7) is fresh off locking up its third straight region championship, though the 2011 team was stripped of nine wins for playing an ineligible player.

Clay-Chalkville senior wide receiver Brian Clark has 33 receptions for 557 yards and nine touchdowns this season. Clark has at least one touchdown reception in six straight games.

Last season, senior quarterback Hayden Moore rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns in a 36-25 win at Oak Mountain. Terrelle West also scored on a 54-yard run.
Expect a valiant effort from Oak Mountain — Clay-Chalkville head coach Jerry Hood’s former team — but for Clay-Chalkville to get out to an early lead. With next week’s first round playoff game against Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, the Cougars may rest starters after the first half or early in the second half.
