Clay-Chalkville is up three spots in the Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 6A rankings this week.
The Cougars (8-1, 6-1 Class 6A, Region 7) trail just Hoover (9-0) and Auburn (8-1) in the rankings. Hoover received all 30 first-place votes.
The rest of the Class 6A top 10, in order, includes McGill-Toolen (8-1), Shades Valley (8-1), Bob Jones (8-1), Blount (8-1), Opelika (7-2), Vestavia Hills (7-2) and Spain Park (8-1).

Hoover plays at Opelika on Friday. Hewitt-Trussville travels to Bob Jones for the first round of the Class 6A playoffs next week.
In Class 5A, Pinson Valley’s first round opponent Hartselle (7-2) garnered four votes for top 10 consideration.
