Hewitt-Trussville senior cross country runner Veronica Lyle is a state champion.
The Alabama verbal commitment won the AHSAA Class 6A state championship over the weekend in Moulton, besting the second-place finisher by 11 seconds.
Alexandra Pidcock finished 11th individually for Hewitt-Trussville.
The Hewitt-Trussville girls finished fifth as a team at the state meet, behind Mountain Brook, Hoover, Vestavia Hills and Bob Jones.
Hewitt-Trussville’s boys finished in ninth place. Auburn won the state championship. The boys’ top finisher was Austin Norwood, who placed 12th.
Pinson Valley’s boys placed 12th in the state meet in Class 5A. Luis Gonzalez was Pinson Valley’s top finisher, placing 20th.
