PINSON — A 43-year-old female has been killed and a 23-year-old woman injured in a shooting at a home in the 6500 block of Kathy Circle, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
That address is believed to be in the city limits of Clay. Clay does not have its own ZIP code and uses Pinson’s.
A 54-year-old black male, believed to be the deceased woman’s husband, fled the scene in his vehicle but was taken into custody shortly after the shooting, Chief Deputy Randy Christian said.
The other person injured, believed to be the deceased victim’s sister, was taken to UAB Hospital to be treated for at least one gunshot wound, Christian said.
The suspected shooter was arrested when a sheriff’s sergeant spotted his vehicle in Trussville and pulled him over with the aid of Trussville police officers.
The man has now been taken in for questioning, Christian said.
