CLAY — A woman killed in a shooting in a home in the 6500 block of Kathy Circle on Sunday has been identified.
Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Bill Yates identified the victim as 43-year-old Tyna Delmay Spivery.
The home is zoned for Clay schools but is located in unincorporated Jefferson County, according to city of Clay officials.
A 23-year-old woman, believed to be Spivery’s sister, was taken to UAB Hospital to be treated for at least one gunshot wound, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
A 54-year-old male, believed to be the deceased woman’s husband or boyfriend, fled the scene shortly after noon Sunday but was taken into custody in Trussville, Chief Deputy Randy Christian said.
The suspected shooter was arrested when a sheriff’s sergeant spotted his vehicle in Trussville and pulled him over with the aid of Trussville police officers.
At 9:10 a.m. Monday, formal charges had yet to be filed.
