TRUSSVILLE — A new garbage pickup service begins Sunday in Trussville.
The Trussville City Council in September awarded a bid to Advanced Disposal for trash collection, and it includes weekly recycling pickup.
With Waste Management, recycling pickup was biweekly.
Melton said the trucks will be equipped with GPS and cameras to verify service to residents. There will not be any charge to residents for garbage, recycling or brush pickup, continuing the city policy of free service.
Melton said in a letter to city residents that residents will receive a 63-gallon cart labeled for recycling only along with a 96-gallon garbage container. Waste Management is scheduled to pick up their recycle bins and garbage carts before the month of November ends.
“Please put these containers out the last week of November whether you have garbage or not,” Melton said in the letter.
When Advanced Disposal’s garbage carts are delivered to homes, they will have instructions attached on how to place the cart at the road and a notice of the day of the week pickup will be.
“We should see an improvement in our brush pick up service with Advanced Disposal,” Melton said in the letter. “Our new contract provides the City with controls in place to ensure dependable service.”
