The National Weather Service in Birmingham has a wintry mix of sleet, light snow and rain in the forecast for Tuesday night, though no accumulation is expected.

There will be a window for wintry precipitation across north central Alabama on Tuesday night. Rain is expected to become mixed with snow and sleet across the northwest counties Tuesday evening. The wintry mix will then spread eastward Tuesday night. The precipitation may briefly change to all light snow before it ends. Little or no accumulation is expected. The wintry mix may extend as far south as a line from Emelle to Clanton to Lafayette.
On Wednesday, a strengthening storm system will move from the northern gulf coast through the Carolinas, producing sustained winds of 20 mph with higher gusts.
