TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday in downtown Trussville.
The parade will begin at 3 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated floats. First place will receive $100, second place will receive $75 and third place will receive $50.
The day’s festivities will conclude with the city’s annual Christmas tree lighting immediately following the parade at the West Mall.
Santa Claus will be a personality in the parade. Santa is invited by the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce to be a part of the parade, so it asks that no other Santa be a part of the parade.
No candy or other items should be thrown from the floats in the parade.
“For the safety of all involved, we ask that everyone please abide by this rule,” said Chamber Executive Director Diane Poole. “We just want to try to make sure everybody is safe and has a great time at the parade.”
Poole hopes the parade is well attended.
“Make your memories special by joining in the fun with your family and friends,” she said.
The chamber will also present its annual “Photogenic Contest.” Winners will be announced in several age groups: Miss/Master Tiny Merry Christmas – 0 months to 23 months; Miss/Master Little Merry Christmas – 2 years to 5 years; Miss/Master Young Merry Christmas – 6 years to 12 years; and Miss/Master Merry Christmas – 13 years to 18 years.
The entry fee is $20, and applications and rules are available at www.trussvillechamber.com. Winners and runners-up are eligible to ride in the Christmas parade.
