The Hewitt-Trussville and Pinson Valley wrestling teams over the weekend won wrestling tournaments.
Hewitt-Trussville topped the 17-team field in the Swede Umbach Invitational in Auburn. Hewitt-Trussville earned 163.5 team points, 17 points better than second-place finisher Hoover. Prattville, Auburn and Oxford rounded out the top five.
Individually, Fred Denson won the 170-pound weight class. Hunter Shoop finished in third place in the 113-pound weight class. Heath Williamson finished in second place in the 120-pound division and Luke Mastro took second in the 138-pound weight class. Dalton Meadows placed second in the 145-pound division, Andrew Patterson was fourth in the 152-pound class, Davis Perry was second in the 160-pound division, Nate Campbell placed third in the 182-pound class and Braedon Keith took fourth in the 220-pound division.
Pinson Valley on Saturday claimed the Charlie Bruce Duals at Fultondale. The Indians were followed by Muscle Shoals, Vestavia Hills and Mortimer Jordan.
