TRUSSVILLE – A man and woman arrested in connection with a meth lab found in a Trussville hotel Sunday night have been charged.
Joyce Elaine Clifton, 32, of Trussville, and Joseph Noel Nix, 36, of Birmingham, are charged with first-degree manufacturing a controlled substance. Both have bonds set at $60,000.
Trussville Police Department Lt. Jeff Bridges said that a smoke alarm went off in a room at the Quality Inn on Norrel Drive on Sunday night.
When officers and fire personnel arrived on the scene, officers were let into the room, where it is believed that a homemade meth lab was located in the bathroom, Bridges said.
The Birmingham Police Department and Birmingham Fire Department assisted, Bridges said.
