TRUSSVILLE — A Trussville swimmer last week verbally committed to swim collegiately at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Fla.
Madeline Pitt, who will graduate from Heritage Academy as a home-schooled student, will sign her national letter of intent during the next signing period in April.
Pitt made official recruiting trips to Berry College in Georgia, Birmingham-Southern College and West Florida.
She has been recruited as a distance swimmer, most specifically in the 1,000-yard freestyle and 1,650-yard freestyle. Pitt’s personal best time in the 1,000-yard freestyle is 10:42.53 and 17:44.35 in the 1,650-yard freestyle.
Pitt has been swimming since she was 6, when she started with the summer park and recreation team at the Trussville City Pool.
Pitt currently competes in USA Swimming, representing the Lifetime Fitness Southeast team, training at Lifetime Fitness under head coach Dan Rozick.
