PINSON — An explosion at a business located at 6179 Sunrise Drive in Pinson has sent four men to the hospital. The condition of those transported is not believed to be life threatening.
“We received the call between 11:30 and noon,” Battalion Chief Lonnie West said. “By the time we arrived there was no fire and we were only there about an hour.”
West said there did not appear to be any structural damage to the building and that the cause of the explosion was under investigation.
The company treats metal and uses high heat in the process, West said, though it was not known if that was a contributing factor.
The address reported is listed as the location of Pinson Valley Heat Treating Company.
The men were transported to UAB Hospital. Birmingham Fire and Rescue assisted in transporting the victims.
