“Damaging winds along a line of thunderstorms, and possibly a few tornadoes, are expected across portions of central Alabama. The severe weather threat will start as early as 8 p.m. across extreme west Alabama,” the National Weather Service stated this afternoon.
The line of storms should reach the Tribune area after midnight.
The latest weather advisory from NWS said all of central Alabama may see severe weather with damaging winds, the main threat, although isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out anywhere. The highest risk will be north and west of a line from Demopolis to Tuscaloosa to Jasper.
The NWS advised everyone to be aware that a significant part of the severe weather threat will come overnight while people are asleep.
The NWS in Mississippi has issued a Tornado Watch for much of the state, as well as Tornado Warnings and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings.
