JASPER — The Pinson Valley girls and boys basketball teams split at Walker on Thursday.
The girls fell to Walker, 56-54. Walker hit two free throws with not much time remaining to seal the win. Junior guard Alex Lowery led Pinson Valley (4-13) with 23 points. Junior forward Nahtika Belser scored 11 points.
The Pinson Valley boys beat Walker 66-57 behind 22 points and six rebounds from senior guard Zach Jackson. Junior guard Donevan Waldrop scored 13 points and handed out four assists. Senior guard Austin McKinney had 11 points and four steals. Senior forward Kerry Griffith chipped in with eight points and five rebounds for Pinson Valley (10-7).
The Pinson Valley girls and boys travel to Pleasant Grove today for games at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively.
