CLAY — The Clay-Chalkville varsity basketball teams both routed Oxford on Wednesday in Class 6A, Area 9 play.
The Lady Cougars (17-4, 4-0) won 77-46 behind 28 points from senior Bria Bethea. Bethea connected on seven 3-pointers.
Junior guard Kristian Hudson scored 23 points for Clay-Chalkville, and freshman Raven Omar chipped in with nine points.
The Clay-Chalkville varsity boys defeated Oxford 48-32 behind junior point guard Hasan Abdullah’s 13 points and 10 assists. Junior forward Sean Burrell added 10 points for the Cougars (15-6, 3-1).
The Clay-Chalkville boys have now held seven of of their last eight opponents to fewer than 50 points.
The Clay-Chalkville varsity squads host Pell City on Friday, with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m.
