CLAY — The Clay-Chalkville varsity boys basketball team routed Fort Payne 80-25 on Tuesday night.
Junior point guard Hasan Abdullah scored 11 points, had 11 steals and dished six assists. Brian Clark and Martin Reed scored 11 points each, and Kenneth Cotton added 10 points for the Cougars (17-6, 4-1 Class 6A, Area 9).
The Clay-Chalkville varsity girls (19-4) beat Fort Payne 53-38.
The Pinson Valley varsity boys basketball team moved one step closer to a regular-season Class 5A, Area 11 championship with a 68-54 win over Springville. Pinson Valley (14-7, 5-1) and Center Point both have one area loss to each other. Center Point faces Springville on Friday.
Against Springville, senior forward Harrison Johnson scored 15 points. Senior forward Kerry Griffith scored 11 points and senior guard Zach Jackson added nine points and five assists.
The Pinson Valley varsity girls (6-15) lost to Springville 53-30.
The Hewitt-Trussville varsity boys basketball game against Center Point scheduled for Tuesday was canceled.
