BIRMINGHAM — Hewitt-Trussville senior defensive end Joseph Roberts has committed to UAB.
Roberts made his pledge to the Blazers on his official visit this weekend.
“I loved the campus and all the things that Birmingham has to offer,” Roberts said. “I went in this weekend not knowing where I wanted to go, but after taking the campus tour I knew this was the place for me.”
Roberts also had an offer from Jacksonville State.
Roberts said he’s excited to play for new head coach Bill Clark, who was hired away from Jacksonville State last week.
“Coach Clark and his staff are proven winners on and off the field,” Roberts said. “I am eager to see the direction that the UAB football program takes under his guidance.”
As a senior, Roberts totaled 76 tackles for Hewitt-Trussville, good for fifth on the defense. He added nine tackles for loss and was tied for first on the defense with three sacks. Roberts also had three pass breakups.
