TRUSSVILLE — Joseph Roberts is a Blazer.
The Hewitt-Trussville senior defensive end signed his national letter of intent to play at UAB at the high school today.
Roberts said it was a big deal to play close to home and for new UAB head coach Bill Clark.
“He’s just a winning guy all around,” Roberts said. “I’m excited to get down there and work hard for him.”
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Roberts will be a speed rusher for the Blazers. He runs a 4.58 40-yard dash.
As a senior, Roberts totaled 76 tackles for Hewitt-Trussville, good for fifth on the defense. He added nine tackles for loss and was tied for first on the defense with three sacks. Roberts also had three pass breakups.
