BIRMINGHAM — Hewitt-Trussville senior Morgan McLain placed third in the Coca-Cola 3-Point Competition during the Final 48 at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex over the weekend.
Hewitt-Trussville head coach Stu Stuedeman said he was “very proud” of McLain, happy that she got the opportunity to compete and showcase her talent.
“She has been a relentless worker for me and has improved her game tremendously,” Stuedeman said. “In our program we always talk about being bigger than adversity and always striving to chase lions and Mo is the greatest example of those slogans. Injuries slowed her progress her junior year and it took her about three-fourths of the season to find her game. However, she didn’t let that discourage her. She dedicated herself to hard work during the summer and never missed one of our skill development workouts. That helped her blossom as a player in her senior year.”
As a senior, McLain led the Lady Huskies in scoring and rebounding, averaging 13 points and 11 rebounds per game.
“Mo is a soft-spoken person with big-time game, and for her to have this opportunity and perform well in it is a well-deserved and great way to end a successful season for her,” Stuedeman said.
