PINSON — The Pinson City Council has received the final drawings for the new city park.
The city council will consider bids at the March 20 meeting, which is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Pinson City Hall.
The city council hopes the park will be able to be opened in conjunction with Pinson’s 200th anniversary as a community in 2015. Councilman John Churchwell made a motion to have the Enhancement Committee begin planning the event. The motion was accepted unanimously.
The park will be located near Center Point Parkway between Sweeney Hollow Road and Glen Brook Road in Pinson.
The city council last week also voted to accept the bid for the annual City Fest, which will be April 5. Seven rides including a toddlers’ ride, two obstacle courses, a rock wall, a spider climb, Pirates Revenge and the Mind Winder will make up this year’s rides. The total for the rides and other expenses is more than $6,400. The city covers all ride expenses, making the rides free to the public.
