CHALKVILLE — The son of Three Hots & A Cot President and CEO J.D. Simpson is an Oscar winner.
Darren Simpson, who serves on Three Hots & A Cot’s advisory board, won an Academy Award on March 2 for the film “Frozen,” which won for best animated feature.
Simpson, Alex Alvarado and Fawn Veerasunthorn all worked on the Disney musical fairy tale that won the Oscar.
Simpson works at Disney Animation. He worked as an intern at Disney before being hired to work on “Wreck it Ralph.”
J.D. Simpson said he, his family and everyone at Three Hots & A Cot are “super proud of him.”
Three Hots & A Cot has a veterans center, the Ryan Winslow Veterans Center, on Old Springville Road in the Chalkville area. It used to be called the Clay Veterans Center.
The Simpson family has another connection to the area. J.D. Simpson’s grandfather, a World War II Royal Navy veteran, lived in Clay for nearly 20 years.
