TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville City Board of Education earlier this week thanked the system’s school faculty and staff that spent the night during the Jan. 28 snowstorm, which kept students at schools overnight.
About 30 students stayed overnight at Hewitt-Trussville High School on Jan. 28, 25 students at Paine Primary School and 19 students at Paine Intermediate School. Hewitt-Trussville Middle School staff and students moved to First Baptist Church of Trussville.
Those who stayed at Paine Primary School overnight were Principal Betsy Schmitt, Melanie Glover, Barbara Seal, Kathy Kelley, Lisa Rish, Lynne Wainwright, Audrey Shannon, Jenni Scott, Ashley Sing, Jaime Giangrosso, Creig Holley, Susie Thomas, Catherine Handrahan, Angela Shorter and Carol Ann Szmajda.
Those who stayed at Paine Intermediate School overnight were Principal Beth Bruno, Kristi Stacks, Chuck Bradford, Joy Hobbs, Kathy Bell, Jana LoPresti, Jana Field, Lydia Smith and Todd Carlile.
Hewitt-Trussville Middle School faculty who remained overnight were Assistant Principal Dale Posey, Kara Chism and Lauren Dean.
Those who stayed at Hewitt-Trussville High School overnight were Principal Tim Salem, Barry Allphin, Katie Riggins, DeAngelia Dailey, Melanie Dimler, Marilyn Eddins, Andrew Grayson, David Kilcoyne and Mark Snider.
The board thanked all faculty, and school resource officers who spent the night and transported students home the next day. Trussville Police Department Sgt. Todd Posey was also commended by the board. Trussville City Schools Superintendent Pattie Neill said it was “an unforgettable night.”
“All went above and beyond the call of duty, big time,” board member Danny Garrett said.
