TRUSSVILLE — Trussville Police Chief Don Sivley today on the police department’s Facebook page advised residents to lock their vehicle doors to prevent break-ins.
Sivley said Trussville and surrounding communities “continue to see a rise in the number of vehicle burglaries reported.”
There were 10 reported in Trussville last week.
“Although we are taking steps to address the issue I am sure I speak for the other agencies in the area when I say you are our most valuable asset in combating this situation,” Sivley said. “Over 80 percent of these vehicle burglaries could be prevented by locking your vehicle.”
Sivley said even if you lock your car, you should not leave electronics or other valuables in plain sight.
