CLAY — The city of Clay last weekend held a trash pickup along Sweeney Hollow Road and Brewster Road in conjunction with the Jefferson County Health Department and People Against a Littered State.
Clay City Manager Ronnie Dixon said it was work the groups worked on together due to Jefferson County’s lack of staff.
“Clay will continue to provide the services we can, even in unincorporated Jefferson County, in order to help make the entire area look better,” Dixon said.
Dixon said the city last week provided two loaders and operators to the Freshwater Land Trust for the purpose of cleaning up the old Tapawingo mobile home park.
Dixon said the next trash pickup event is scheduled for April 26. All volunteers must meet at Clay City Hall on Old Springville Road at 9 a.m.
“We will provide bags and traffic control,” Dixon said. “Dug Hollow (Road) and more of Brewster (Road) will be targeted.”
