PALMERDALE — A rock chimney was recently discovered at the site of the Northern Beltline construction in Palmerdale, according to Alabama Department of Transportation spokeswoman Linda Crockett.
Crockett said the rock chimney is not connected to a house and was set to be removed this week.
Crockett said there was a historic site in the area, and the chimney was tested and determined not eligible for historical status. The chimney was recorded with a 3D scan, she said.
“It is located near the start of the project off (Highway 75),” Crockett said. “It has been evaluated.”
The groundbreaking for the Northern Beltline was Monday. Read about that here.
