FAIRFIELD — A 27-year-old man is charged with abuse of a corpse in the death of a Pinson woman.
Kenneth Childers is in Jefferson County Jail, charged with abuse of a corpse in the death of 22-year-old Megan Elizabeth Monroe, a former Hewitt-Trussville High School student.
During the execution of a search warrant in the West End area of Birmingham, as a follow-up in this case, a second male was taken into custody, said Fairfield Police Chief Leon Davis.
“He has not been formally charged as of yet but we anticipate charging him as well,” Davis said. “Additional charges may be forthcoming pending an official cause of death from the coroner’s office.”
Various reports indicated Monroe’s body was dumped and set on fire behind an empty house earlier this month.
