PINSON — The Pinson Valley varsity soccer teams are on the road to Huntsville.
The girls and boys won quarterfinal games Saturday to move on to the Class 5A semifinals in Huntsville on Friday.
The girls earned their first state semifinals berth in school history by defeating Moody 2-0. The Lady Indians (11-8) got goals from Tori Gann and Christina Bell. Pinson Valley will play John Carroll (27-3-1) on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
In the first round, the girls beat Parker 10-0 behind five goals from Gann, and one each from Savannah Hudson, Tori Brown, Laurel Uhomba, Jessica Stacy and Janise Edwards.
The Pinson Valley boys earned their third straight trip to the Class 5A semifinals by defeating Walker 5-1 on Saturday. The Indians got two goals each from Ramon Cupido and Jordan Walton, and one from Giovanni Molina. Pinson Valley (15-4-1) faces Homewood (15-6-1) on Friday at 3:45 p.m. in the semifinals.
In the first round, the boys beat Paul Bryant 9-2 behind four goals from Walton.
