TRUSSVILLE — The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of central Alabama, including Jefferson and St. Clair counties, for Wednesday and early Thursday.
A cold front will move through the area, producing heavy rains and thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon. Rainfall totals could be from 1 1/2 to 2 inches and could cause flash flooding in some areas.
- Wednesday – Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds and heavy rain. Patchy fog before 10 a.m. High near 77. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent.
- Wednesday night – Showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m., then showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after 11 p.m. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds and heavy rain. Low around 51. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent.
- Thursday – Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 66. West wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
