PINSON — A convicted sex offender is back in jail after police say he exposed himself to customers in the parking lot of a Pinson grocery store.
On May 2, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a man exposing himself to people in the parking lot of a Pinson grocery store. Three days later, the same man was seen inside the grocery store with a small child, said Chief Deputy Randy Christian. The man and his car, including the license plate, were photographed. The photos were turned over to detectives, Christian said.
The registration on the vehicle indicated it was owned by a woman living at the same address as 41-year-old convicted sex offender John Allen Racine. Racine was identified as the man who had been exposing himself in the parking lot, Christian said.
Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Racine, charging him with indecent exposure and violation of the Sex Offender Act.
On Wednesday, detectives arrested Racine at his home in the 5700 block of Walnut Grove Road in Pinson.
He is currently in the Jefferson County Jail with bonds totaling $21,000. Racine was originally convicted in Florida of lewd exhibition with a 12-year-old male victim in 2008.
