PHENIX CITY — A former Clay-Chalkville baseball player has helped the Chattahoochee Valley Community College baseball team to the Alabama Community College Conference championship.
Sophomore outfielder J.D. Perry made the all-tournament team for the Pirates, who went 4-0 in the tournament. The team beat Wallace State-Dothan 8-0, Alabama Southern 8-7, Faulkner State 14-4 and Alabama Southern 11-5.
The team now goes on to the National Junior College Athletic Assocation World Series in Grand Junction, Colo.
Perry this season is batting .414 with two home runs and 19 runs batted in. He’s scored 23 runs and stolen 17 bases.
Perry graduated from Clay-Chalkville High School in 2011.
