TRUSSVILLE — North Chalkville Road in Trussville will be closed between Rock Ridge Avenue and Hewitt Street beginning Monday, June 16, according to city officials.
The work will include removing dead or diseased trees, sidewalk repairs or replacement, drainage improvement, curb replacement and complete removal of the pavement and rebuilding of the road from the ground up.
Traffic will be diverted to Rock Ridge Avenue or Parkway Drive (accessed from Poplar Street), which parallel North Chalkville Road through this area.
City officials hope this work is complete before school begins in early August.
Work has also begun on Highland Avenue. This project includes relocating a drainage ditch, extending a drainage culvert under the road near the Linden Street end of the street, and widening and resurfacing the roadway.
This road will be closed to through traffic during the culvert and road work portions of this project.
Any one of several other roads connecting Linden Street to U.S. Highway 11 may be used – Kay Avenue, Maple Avenue, Glenn Avenue or Chalkville Road.
