TRUSSVILLE — A Hewitt-Trussville shortstop has been named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State Honorable Mention team for his play as a junior.
Carter Pharis is the lone area player to be named All-State.
“Our team had a great year and I was very fortunate to be part of it,” Pharis said. “It is a huge honor to be named Honorable Mention All-State.”
As a junior, Pharis batted .372 with 33 runs batted in and as many stolen bases. Pharis logged an on-base percentage of .566.
“I’m thankful for my relationship with Christ that helps me through the ups and downs of baseball, and great teammates and coaches that are always supportive,” said Pharis, who is committed to play at UAB.
No area softball players were named to the All-State team.
