JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating vandalism at several churches, and one is in the area.
Since Thursday, deputies have responded to three churches in northeast Jefferson County to investigate reports of vandalism. In each case the churches had graffiti spray painted on the walls, doors and grounds. All three churches had similar markings spray painted on the entrances. The churches are:
- Mountain View Baptist Church at 5568 Chalkville Mountain Road in Grayson Valley
- Good Samaritan Church at 1526 Huffman Road
- Center Point Independent Church at 1269 Huffman Road
Similar cases of vandalism have been reported in Birmingham, Hueytown and Pleasant Grove.
Solid Rock Church on Pinson Valley Parkway was also vandalized. Pastor Larry Ragland said “memenevshady” is spray-painted in red across the church’s doors and ground outside the church. He said he has no idea who did it.
“But apparently it is someone who is against the church,” Ragland said. “They have painted it on many churches around Jefferson County.”
The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 205-325-1450 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
