CLAY — An eight-month investigation into illegal gambling machines led to a raid Wednesday at a mini storage building in Clay.
The raid happened at Clay Mini Storage in the 6500 block of Old Springville Road.
Jefferson County sheriff’s detectives and the Alabama Attorney General’s Office seized 10 electronic gambling machines in the raid, said Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jack Self.
Self said authorities launched their investigation after receiving complaints of illegal gambling taking place at the business. In addition to the machines, authorities also confiscated accessories, such as power supplies and parts.
No one was at the storage building when officers arrived.
Self said charges are pending.
