PINSON — The fifth annual Float Your Boat Summer Festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 19 at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve in Pinson.
The event begins at 11 a.m.
This event offers games, boat races, trail runs, food and music. Proceeds will benefit the nature preserve’s Environmental Education Programming, which reaches 10,000 students every year.
The balsa wood boat races are expected to begin at 11 a.m. Last year, one boat cost $5, six boats cost $25 and 12 boats cost $50.
There will also a build your own boat race, in which participants compete with their own biodegradable boat. Boat specifications are available at www.turkeycreeknp.wordpress.com.
This year’s festival will also include an 8k trail run, children’s fun zone, children’s balsa wood boat race and the city of Pinson’s “Beat The Heat” ice cream giveaway.
