BIRMINGHAM — UAB wants Trussville on the bandwagon.
UAB Athletics on Friday announced its Green and Gold Bandwagon Tour, in which the Blazers’ marketing staff will blanket the Birmingham area next week, and Trussville is on the schedule.
On Thursday, Aug. 7, the UAB marketing staff and spirit groups will hit the streets of Trussville to spread the word about the start of the new football season on the Southside. Posters, schedule cards and other information for the 2014 season will be available as the Blazers gear up for their first season under new head coach Bill Clark. Cheerleaders, Golden Girls and Blaze will also be on hand to greet fans and assist with the efforts.
The tour stop is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We are excited to gear up for the 2014 football season,” said UAB Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing Jen Kost. “We encourage Birmingham to support the Blazers as we kick off the season at home on Saturday, Aug. 30 against Troy at 11 a.m. We hope fans and businesses will proudly show their UAB spirit as we make our way around the Birmingham area.”
Clark spoke at a Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon in May.
