TRUSSVILLE — A Jefferson County grand jury today indicted a Trussville man in connection with a November 2013 shooting death of an 81-year-old man on Rock Ridge Avenue in Trussville.
Freddie Earl Patton, 54, was arrested at his home today and booked into the Jefferson County Jail shortly after 11 a.m., according to online jail records. His bond is set at $150,000.
Patton was charged with murder in the November 2013 shooting death of Ken Millar, his common law wife’s father, but the charge was dismissed in December 2013 at the request of prosecutors.
Patton’s attorney, John Lentine, said Patton was arrested at home today. The indictment is for intentional murder, he said.
Lentine said it’s his understanding that the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Patton.
“I wish they would have just let us know about the warrant and we would have turned him in,” Lentine said.
Lentine said the case will now be assigned to a circuit court judge and set for an arraignment. The date for that isn’t yet known.
