CLAY — Clay Mayor Charles Webster and Clay City Councilman Ben Thackerson recently earned certificates from the Alabama League of Municipalities.
Webster was designated as an advanced certified municipal official.
To qualify for the certification, a municipal leader must first complete the basic Certified Municipal Official program, including 40 credit hours of continuing education training, seminars and/or service on league committees and boards. Municipal officials must then complete an additional 20 credit hours over a three-year period to reach Advanced CMO status.
Webster received formal classroom training in various public service subjects, including council meeting and parliamentary procedures, public records, zoning and planning, the state ethics law and leadership development.
“My mission is to help lead Clay forward for the benefit of all the citizens,” Webster said.
