CLAY — Clay-Chalkville maintained its Class 6A No. 2 ranking in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association poll.
Spanish Fort is No. 1, receiving 28 of 30 first-place votes. The Cougars and No. 3 Shades Valley earned one first-place vote each. The rest of the Class 6A top 10, in order, are Opelika, Carver-Montgomery, Florence, Daphne, Saraland, Blount and Muscle Shoals.
Pinson Valley earned three votes for top 10 consideration, just four spots out of the top 10.
In Class 7A, Bob Jones is ranked No. 1 with 25 first-place votes. Hoover is No. 2 with three first-place votes. The rest of the top 10, in order, are Spain Park, Fairhope, Central-Phenix City, Gadsden City, McGill-Toolen, Foley, Prattville and Vestavia Hills.
Hewitt-Trussville received one vote for top 10 consideration, putting the Huskies six spots out of the top 10.
