PINSON — The residents of the Aspen Ridge subdivision off Highway 75 have spoken — they want to be Pinson citizens.
Fifty-two people voted in an annexation referendum Tuesday, and 100 percent voted to join the Pinson city limits, Pinson Mayor Hoyt Sanders said. The annexation is pending judge approval.
Sanders said the annexed area encompasses approximately 110 acres, which includes about 60 lots, with some not yet built on. Sanders estimated 50 homes could be located in the area.
“There are some acreage tracts also that are not subdivided as well,” Sanders said.
A Jefferson County probate judge approved of the annexation referendum in early August. Over 60 percent of the subdivision has already been annexed into the city.
