CLAY — Clay-Chalkville is yet again the second-ranked team in Class 6A this week in the Alabama Sports Writers Association poll.

The Cougars (5-0) earned three first-place votes and sit behind just Spanish Fort (5-0), which is again No. 1 and garnered 27 first-place votes. The rest of the Class 6A top 10, in order, are Shades Valley, Opelika, Carver-Montgomery, Daphne, Blount, Saraland, Decatur and Florence.

McAdory, which travels to Pinson Valley on Friday, is the first team listed in the “Others receiving votes” category, making the Yellow Jackets No. 11 in Class 6A. Pinson Valley received no votes for consideration.
In Class 7A, Hoover (3-2) is again on top, followed by Fairhope. Sitting at No. 3 is Gadsden City, which Hewitt-Trussville takes on at Titan Stadium on Friday. The rest of the Class 7A top 10, in order, are Central-Phenix City, Bob Jones, Foley, Prattville, Oak Mountain, Smiths Station and Spain Park.
Hewitt-Trussville earned 11 votes for top 10 consideration, essentially ranking the Huskies No. 15 in Class 7A.
