CLAY — Clay-Chalkville enters the Class 6A playoffs as the unanimous No. 1 team.
The Cougars earned 28 first-place votes and are on top in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association poll.
The rest of the Class 6A top 10, in order, are Opelika, Saraland, Spanish Fort, Florence, McAdory, Benjamin Russell, Shades Valley, Daphne and Blount.

Southside-Gadsden, which Pinson Valley faces Friday, earned nine votes for top 10 consideration, making the Panthers No. 13.
In Class 7A, Hoover was again on top, earning 20 of the 28 first-place votes. No. 2 Fairhope earned seven first-place votes and No. 3 Central-Phenix City got one.
The rest of the Class 7A top 10, in order, are Oak Mountain, Baker, Bob Jones, Gadsden City, Prattville, Murphy and Foley.
Hewitt-Trussville earned five votes for top 10 consideration, ranking the Huskies No. 12.
